How Resiliency Will Conquer the Coronavirus

Although we are seeing a light at the end of the tunnel in parts of the country, other parts of the country and the world that are seeing a surge in cases. This is a real fight against an opponent that is invisible to the human eye, shows no remorse, and will readily adapt in an effort to win. As the battle plays out, we are all experiencing and witnessing the strength and resilience of our leaders.

From our perspective, here are four valuable lessons learned (so far).

1. Decisiveness Leaders have to accept more risk because they must make decisions with less knowledge.
2. Relationship Leaders must be effective communicators that begins with trust and confidence that started long before the crisis.
3. Vulnerability It is crucial for a leader to create an atmosphere of sharing mistakes. A leader has to be able to reward an action even if it led to a mistake, and everybody must see that.
4. Visibility A leader has to be visible. Culture and morale and standards all depend on the leader, and none of those can be sacrificed in a crisis.
